Open Door

We had an unbelievable 2.500 visitors at the Open Door on March 13th. Besides the presentation of our new wines we introduced also the new art collection and had several artists working live. If you wish to read more and see the photos please click here.


Welcome to Quinta dos Vales

We are situated in Estombar/Lagoa, Portugal in the centre of the Algarve in the middle of an family owned historic wine and fruit estate of nearly 500.000 sqm. Less than ten minutes drive from the bustling city of Portimao, the historic city of Silves or the fishing village of Carvoeiro and within minutes to the nearest beach. We are one of the best positioned estates in the region and we offer a holiday to remember combining luxury and tranquillity with our beautiful surroundings.

 

On the property itself we grow and produce our own wine. A variety of high quality wines which have been produced under the supervision of highly professional oenologists can be tasted “on-site” in our newly renovated tasting room – the Sala de Prova.

ANOTHER GOLD MEDAL

Our "Grace Touriga Nacional 2008" has received a Gold medal in the "Concurso Nacional de Vinhos Engarrafados 2010", the most important wine competition in Portugal, bringing the total number of awards received since March to 20. View the results here.

 

WINE TASTING MEALS

Visit our Sculpture Garden, see our permanent and temporary art exhibitions and our Animal Park daily (week days only) between 9 and 12 or from 14 until 18 free of charge.

 

ART AND CURIO SHOP
Now open from 9 to 12 and from 14 until 18. Take a unique piece of art home with you as a reminder. We produce hand made small sculptures of our large outdoor sculptures in ceramic and also selected pieces in bronze.

At selected times you might even see the craftsmen doing the sculptures.

WINE
We released our new 2009 Whites and Rosé on our Open Door on March 13th 2010.
Marquês dos Vales Primeira Selecção 2009 White, a “blanc de noir” from Castelão, and the Rosé, which matured for 6 months in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, as well as the Grace Vineyard 2009 White, an oaked blend of Malmsey with Arinto and Siria which fermented in French oak barrels and aged in them for a further 4 months, are very promising wines and achieved great acceptance at the presentation.
It will be a while now before we release our next wines as we want to give the 2008 reds a bit more time. Both the “Primeira Selecção 2008” and the “Grace Vineyard 2008” are already bottled and maturing in the bottles, awaiting their release later this year.
In December we will introduce a small lot of our first sparkling wine which has a slight pinkish apricot color and a promising taste. But let us wait until it is corked! Ultimately it is you, the client, who makes the decision and not us.

Wine and fruit are not the only outstanding features on our farm. 120.000 sqm are reserved for animals in fenced areas. In the smaller areas we have black pigs, wild boar, sheep, a horse, llamas, ducks, geese and more. In the larger area of 100.000 sqm we have our wild animals, rabbits, hares, beautiful birds and last but not least our own large group of deer. You may walk at restricted times through our animal areas or take our guided tour by prior arrangement.

 

The combination of art and good wine has always been important for our family. You will find, in strategic positions, fascinating sculptures some reaching as high as 4m. We hope you will enjoy looking for and finding these pieces of art and appreciate their beauty.

WE OFFER

  • Holidays in a luxurious, centrally located, operational wine and fruit farm.
  • Manor House with 6 bedrooms and own 4x8m pool (heated on request) and sauna hut;
    sleeps 12 -14.
  • House with 4 two bedroom house units. Each  accomodating 4.
  • 1 two bedroom house unit spread over two floors in the Wine Adega sleeps 4-6  comfortably.
  • Tennis Court (Grass)
  • Two farm houses from the early 19th century with 2 resp. 4 bedrooms.
  • The house units share their own sauna and 14x6m pool (heated on request).
  • The Manor house and house units have been fully renovated in 2007 to excellent standards with A/C, heating, new furniture, satellite TV-systems, DVD players, all buildings have W-LAN connections
  • Comfort equivalent to a fine resort but with the freedom to enjoy total relaxation and tranquillity without disturbance in a home from home.
